Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania The South Middleton School Board has appointed Jason Baker as the next Assistant to the Superintendent of South Middleton School District. His first day with the district will be January 3.

Baker has worked in public education for the past 27 years. He is currently Director of Organizational Development for Mechanicsburg Area School District, where he started working in 1995 as a math teacher.

Baker was born and raised a Bubbler, attending South Middleton schools from grades K through 12 and graduating from Boiling Springs High School. His two children are also both lifelong Bubblers and graduates of Boiling Springs High School.

“I’m excited to come back and have an impact on the district where I have so many great memories,” Baker said. “I’m especially looking forward to being able to participate in all of what South Middleton offers now that I’ll be working in the district.”

Having spent 16 years in the classroom and serving as president of the Mechanicsburg Education Association, Baker sees school issues through the lens of an administrator and a teacher, as well as a parent and former student in the district.

“We are excited to welcome Mr. Baker to South Middleton,” said Kevin O’Donnell, the current South Middleton Assistant to the Superintendent who will become Superintendent in January. “His wealth of experience within public education and his involvement within our community will help to enhance our organization and meet the needs of our students.”

As Assistant to the Superintendent, Baker will help oversee areas such as curriculum, federal programs and staff professional development.

“There are so many great things happening in the district and I’m excited to learn more about it all,” Baker added. “I’m looking forward to working alongside staff to support and help them continue to grow professionally. Together we will continue to provide great educational opportunities for our students.”
