Middletown, PA – It’s been nearly two weeks since tragedy struck on Main Street near the Giant supermarket in Middletown.
Was it a large truck, or perhaps a car that destroyed the stop sign which formerly stood plumb at the entrance to the shopping plaza? Glass and debris were found scattered on the street around the crash scene.
Many patrons of the shopping plaza are surprised that nothing has yet been done to repair the sign.
Folks are now taking matters into their own hands to restore the dignity and function of the sign.

Tuesday morning a “Get Well Soon” balloon appeared to be attached to the sign, and this photo was snapped by one passerby who took notice. The image became popular after it was shared on social media.
The personification of the stop sign has become a theme in the comments section online.
The story of who placed the balloon is the million dollar question. Several people have mentioned that they would like to meet the hilarious person who placed the ballon.
Update: Reactions to the balloon and fallen stop sign have continued to develop on social media.
Concerned citizens have rallied in support of the fallen stop sign, calling for its repair. One group is making preparations for flowers, candles, and a teddy bear at the crash scene.
According to Jacinda Lockard, along with her dad Justin Crater, ” [We] put that balloon on the stop sign in Middletown PA. We meant no harm just wanted to make people laugh. Looks like we did exactly that. 😊 We’re kind of curious to see what the outcome of $1.06 gesture will come from this.”
This is a developing story. Check back tomorrow for an update. 💯
