Harrisburg, Pennsylvania – Yevgeniy Maksymiv, 33, who is reportedly Ukrainian, was federally charged with attempting to fire bomb Zembie’s Sports Tavern Monday at 226 North Second Street, according to a Department of Justice news release. Police found three Molotov cocktails in the surrounding areas. The bar is one block from the Pennsylvania State Capitol.
An investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives began when the man allegedly walked into the popular Harrisburg sports bar with three Molotov cocktails and accused the owner’s son, Jimmy, of supporting Russia.
Maksymiv was indicted by a federal grand jury on March 2, 2022 for maliciously attempting to damage or destroy a building by fire, and for knowingly possessing an unregistered destructive device.
Maksymiv is facing up to 30 years in prison and thousands of dollars in fines, federal prosecutors said.
