Update: School Board Members bribed to sway key votes
Harrisburg, PA – Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. And the history of the Harrisburg School Board is about to repeat itself, for the third time.
For those who are paying attention, it has become a story that is too familiar; one member of the board steps down mid-session, and Lawson steps in to fill the vacancy.
Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
Within the last two months, two members have resigned from the Harrisburg School Board. Percel Eiland resigned in June citing personal reasons. He was one of four who had voted against retaining Superintendent Sybil Knight-Burney. Most recently Harrisburg School District and School Board officials received the resignation of appointed School Board Director Tyrell Spradley.
Although the board meeting to fill the vacancy isn’t until Monday evening, it is believed that the decision has been prearranged, and that she was handpicked rather than being selected fairly based on criteria.
School board insiders indicated that they are aware of a very recent lunch meeting between the Superintendent and Lawson. It has been suggested that Lawson serves to do the bidding of Superintendent Sybil Knight-Burney, as she has in the past.
