Following a historic mandate election victory, President Trump has called for bi-partisan unity in the United States of America. However, one of Pennsylvania’s largest newspapers continues deep down the path of anti-Trump publishing, laying the groundwork to further divide the nation.

This week PennLive featured an editorial drawing comparisons to President Donald Trump and the ousting of President Richard Nixon. The editorial described a list of political enemies to be targeted using the power of the federal government, suggesting that these are the intentions of President Trump, calling the enemies list a “fascist tool.”

Yet no comparisons were made to conservatives being targeted using bureaucratic forces, and the politically motivated investigations conducted by Joe Biden.

An early conclusion was drawn in the editorial to plant the seed of hope as if Trump could soon be forced to resign similarly to Nixon.

After citing a quote from conservative columnist William F. Buckley Jr., “It is fascist in its reliance on the state as the instrument of harassment,” the editorial immediately suggested Donald Trump will use the FBI to target his political enemies.

Perhaps the editors at PennLive are offended that Trump plans to protect children by punishing human traffickers of minors with the death penalty.

An enemies list isn’t a weapon against “the Deep State.” An enemies list was a tool that a president used to create a deep state of his own.

After providing hope to desperate left wing readers with many thousands of words describing events leading to the impeachment of Nixon, in the end, the editorial admitted that Trump will not be impeached by Republicans in Congress, and he is now protected by Presidential immunity.

Things are different now. In Trump’s first term, the vast majority of congressional Republicans proved unwilling to impeach or convict him. He will begin his second term armed with a Supreme Court decision declaring him immune from criminal prosecution for most “official acts.”
