Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania — Chase Bank, the retail banking arm of financial services giant JPMorgan Chase, plans to open a branch next to McDonald’s on the edge of Hampden Commons, a shopping plaza along Carlisle Pike in Hampden Township, Cumberland County.

The bank is leasing a former M&T Bank branch at 5528 Carlisle Pike, according to Brad Rohrbaugh, retail director for York-based Bennett Williams Commercial, the leasing agent for Hampden Commons.

A Chase spokesperson said the bank would not be able to comment until 2025 on its plans, which were disclosed in a weekly report from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.

The former M&T branch is owned by Drew Bobincheck, president of Mechanicsburg-based Presbyterian Development LLC, who said the office is currently undergoing renovations.

JP Morgan Chase Bank leased 2,640 square feet of retail space at 558 Carlisle Pike from Presbyterian Development. Ashlee Lehman, Blake Shaffer, Brad Rohrbaugh, and Chad Stine of Bennett Williams Commercial represented the landlord in the transaction.

The Trend:

Chase has been one of the most prolific banks when it comes to opening new branches.

The bank recently opened offices in Cumberland and Dauphin counties, and it is seeking permission for an office in Lititz.

In February, the bank said it plans to open more than 500 branches by 2027, including in rural and low-to-moderate-income communities.

Chase already has more than 4,700 branches in 48 states.
