Camp Hill, Pennsylvania – Is it politics as usual in Cumberland County?
David Buell, a Republican political insider and most recently a past contender for state representative in the 103rd District, is now throwing his support behind Democrat candidate Tina Nixon.
Buell hosted a meet-and-greet at his Camp Hill home Thursday evening, April 4th for Nixon, now a VP of “Mission Effectiveness, Diversity Equity & Inclusion” at UPMC. She was photographed by a Harrisburg100 follower, entering Buell’s residence, as other guests streamed in.

Nixon is one of five Democrats vying for the representative spot, being vacated by Rep. Patti Kim, who’s now campaigning for state Senate. It is unclear why he is supporting a Democrat, when there is a Republican challenger set to be on the ballot: Cindi Ward, who’s widely known as the commissioner candidate, that ran alongside Gary Eichelberger.
Harrisburg100 reached out to Buell as well as the Cumberland County Republican Committee (CCRC) Chairman Lou Capozzi for comment on this event. (Capozzi, through his law firm’s PAC, Capozzi and Associates PAC, contributed $1000 to Buell’s failed bid for state representative in 2022.)

The CCRC is no stranger to controversy in its control of party leadership, having purged seven (7) elected Committee People (CPs) in July 2023. Eight months later, the CCRC continues to have vacant CP positions, after the purge, but is holding strong in refusing to allow the elected CPs return, because they supported shunned-candidate Eichelberger, who ultimately won in the general election, but costed anointed CCRC-candidate Nathan Silcox the win.
Capozzi himself has been under fire from members of his party for holding a private fundraiser for Democrat Senator Bob Casey, raising $15,000, leading to Casey’s win in 2006.
The 103rd district includes parts of Harrisburg, Camp Hill, Lemoyne, Wormleysburg and East Pennsboro Township.
The primary elected is set for April 23rd.

it was NINE committee people, who were purged, and 9 communities whose votes were nullified by the GOP Chairman Capozzi & crooked company.
Commissioner Eichelberger was elected, and re-elected by Cumberland County time and again, so Capozzi wasn’t just endorsing against some committee people — he was endorsing against the voters that elected re-elected the Commissioner. Party Establishment knows best, and the pesky voters get in his way. That’s our current GOP leadership.
And recall, when Lou Capozzi went off the reservation to support Democrat Bob Casey over the Republican incumbent Rick Santorum, Republicans lost the Senate by ONE seat, making Harry Reid the Majority Leader. Don’t believe Lou’s excuse, that his PAC made him do it… they may have voted to spend their money on a Democrat, but they didn’t force him to host a fundraiser in his home or give a statement to the press about it (see: GOP lawyer hosts Casey fund-raiser – cumberlink.com ).
The anti-Trump chairman and his inner circle hacks aren’t interested in what the voters think. You’re just here to do as you’re told, and support his crony candidates, just like Kelly Neiderer, the “Real Republican” Commissioner Capozzi pushed on the community, who immediately sided with the Democrat Commissioner to raise your taxes! The Capozzi Tax Hike. Thank the Establishment GOP for that one!
