Middletown, Pa – Mayor James Curry today announced plans to survey borough residents regarding a proposal for the community pool that would create an RV campground and long term plans for a miniature golf course and kayak launch. Curry said the existing on-site bathhouse, basketball court and nearby boat launch at the mouth of the Susquehanna river would bolster the amenities of the campground.
Curry said the RV campground would create recreational improvements thus providing more outdoor options for borough youth, and it would have an economic impact on Middletown by bringing increased revenues for nearby retail and restaurants.
He made the public appeal ahead of a vote by borough council regarding the fate of the pool which has been closed for the past two years. He said the costs to construct RV parking spots with water and electric utility hook ups would be relatively low considering the potential for significant return on investment and community enrichment.
