Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania – Dave Pai, a field application scientist originally from Mechanicsburg, Pa., dominated Double Jeopardy on Thursday and won $25,800 his first night on the show.
Pai was the only contestant to correctly answer the Final Jeopardy question, “Representing its outspoken tone, this newspaper founded in the 19th century has the name of a free-spirited opera character,” with the answer “Le Figaro,” from the category titled “Foreign Newspapers.”

Despite trailing by a large deficit, Pai went on to win Friday night as well. Although no contestant correctly answered the Final Jeopardy question, Pai did not wager his $4,400, as the other leading contestants both bet big and lost everything.
After winning Friday night, his 2-day total equaled $32,700.

Monday night Jeopardy will feature Pai as a returning champion, seeking to extend his current 2-day winning streak.
Pai is a graduate of Cumberland Valley High School of the year 2000. He studied Biological Chemistry at the University of Michigan.
