Miami, Florida — A Miami Dade County court has dismissed a defamation lawsuit filed against journalist and political commentator Angie Wong, bringing the legal matter to a permanent close.
The Circuit Court of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit in and for Miami Dade County entered an Order of Dismissal With Prejudice on July 2, 2026, directing the Clerk of Court to close the case. A dismissal with prejudice is a final resolution that prevents the claims from being refiled.
The court’s order did not make any finding that Wong committed defamation or any other wrongdoing, and no judgment of liability was entered against her.
The lawsuit was filed against Wong during a period in which she has publicly described facing years of cyberstalking, online harassment, and retaliatory legal actions. In a separate matter, Wong previously obtained a permanent injunction for protection against stalking and has since focused advocacy efforts on strengthening protections for victims of online abuse.
Wong is the founder of Operation Bullyproof, an initiative created to examine the effectiveness of state laws and law enforcement responses to cyberbullying, cyberstalking, and digital harassment. The organization advocates for stronger enforcement tools and legal reforms aimed at protecting victims in an increasingly online society.
According to the court’s order, each party will be responsible for its own attorneys’ fees and costs unless otherwise provided. With the dismissal, the case is now permanently closed.
