Harrisburg, Pennsylvania — During today’s weekly commissioners meeting, Dauphin County Commissioner Justin Douglas announced that the county solicitor intends to not cooperate with ICE, and he will make a motion for the commissioners to vote next week on a resolution to prevent any contractual relationships with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Dauphin County Commissioner Mike Pries questioned if this resolution has been communicated with the District Attorney and Sheriff’s Office.
“Very little,” was the response.
Update (September 10) — Two of three Dauphin County Commissioners, Hartwick and Pries, voted to continue cooperation with ICE. Commissioner Douglas voted to reject immigration enforcement.
The Dauphin County Sheriff made a strong statement reaffirming his cooperation with all law enforcement agencies including ICE.
