Hummelstown, Pennsylvania — PennDOT is planning a large roadway improvement project to reduce congestion on Middletown Road in Derry Township between the Vine Street interchange at I-283, and Route 322 in Hummelstown.

The preliminary planning has begun of a four-year design and permitting phase with a projected construction date in 2028.

Engineers from PennDOT and Derry Township met last week to begin preliminary discussions. The plan was mentioned during the Tuesday night Board of Supervisors meeting, and a public engagement meeting is anticipated in the spring of 2025.
