Harrisburg, Pennsylvania (WHTM) — During last night’s Harrisburg Mayoral Debate, candidate Lewis Butts said he would build the “Harrisburg International Aquarium” to get people from the suburbs to visit the city.
Candidates were asked about the decreasing number of people traveling to Harrisburg from nearby suburbs and how they plan to increase tourism. Butts, who previously ran three times for Mayor of Harrisburg, announced he would spearhead the project to induce more revenue to the city.
“I would add to the post office on Market Street, I would create the Harrisburg International Aquarium, I would bring education to our area, I would bring tourism, as well as revenue [and] jobs,” Butts said. “I would create a PennDOT Plaza down where we have the city homeless to create shops so the people in South Harrisburg would have places where they could work. It’s all about creating revenue engines.”
According to Butts’ Facebook page, he is the owner, operator, and designer for Aquila Aquarium Designs. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a degree in Marine Biology in 1988.
“We need solutions,” Butts said. “I bring solutions.”
