Miami, Florida — Committeewoman Angie Wong thanked New York City Mayor Mamdani for diverting billions of dollars in tax revenue to her district in Brickell, Miami by pushing investors away from New York City. Brickell is Miami’s financial district, known as the “Manhattan of the South.”
Committeewoman Wong posted a photograph on X of the construction site of Ken Griffin’s Citadel building its massive Class A office tower next to her office. She said the investment is bringing thousands of high earning professionals to the area.
She thanked Mamdani and asked him to keep it coming, saying Miami is evolving to be the “new Wall Street of America.” Her post on X has garnered millions of views and thousands of comments.
I just want to personally thank Mayor Zohran Mamdani for scaring away the billionaire class from NYC and helping bring billions in tax revenue to my district of Brickell Miami, where Ken Griffin’s Citadel is building its massive Class A office tower next to my office and bringing thousands of high earning professionals to the area.
The economic shift into Downtown Miami is truly transformative. Billions in new investments, new jobs, new infrastructure, and a growing tax base can help fund schools, transportation, and the modernization of Miami as it evolves into the new Wall Street of America. Keep the expats coming!

It will really matter if we can break the Federal support of failing cities. As NYC goes into the toilet, the Feds will be pouring $$ billions in to it.
