Hershey, Pennsylvania — The Hersheypark Stadium backstage is to be redeveloped with 2 permanent buildings and 13 temporary structures. The Star Pavilion is being replaced and the area in front of the stage is currently a large pile of rubble.

Representatives from Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Company brought their proposal to the Derry Township Planning Commission to be recommended for approval last night. Improvements to the existing venue layout will create a new backstage entrance providing increased venue security, reducing pedestrian traffic conflicts, and improve overall operational efficiency for the venue. The redesign will also improve parking lot security.

A storm water management plan has been approved for this development plan and the newly enacted fire fee will be applied to this project at a rate of 50 cents per square foot of new floor space.

After hearing the proposal, the planning commission did recommend approval of the development plan contingent upon various conditions.
