Hershey, Pennsylvania — Lesa Brackbill is a California native and Azusa Pacific University alumna who is currently campaigning for a seat on the Derry Township School Board of Directors. This week, she won a primary election on May 20 in Dauphin County, and will appear on the general election ballot in November along with a slate of four candidates to fill four open seats.

Brackbill holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Master of Arts in Strategic Communications. She is running for school board because, “As a mother of three and a passionate resident of Derry Township, I’m deeply invested in our children’s education.”

Brackbill is also an avid blogger. She maintains a website with hundreds of posts describing her political opinions and religious convictions.

The Israelites had been exiled from Israel for seventy years. They were finally allowed to return to their Promised Land and began to rebuild their temple (Solomon’s glorious temple which had been completely destroyed).

The Musings of Lesa Brackbill

Formerly a Republican, Brackbill is now an independent activist and outspoken critic of President Donald Trump. She has authored critiques of Trump’s effort to end the war in Ukraine, writing, “How Zelenskyy was treated in the Oval Office is appalling to me.” Brackbill has also lobbied for a medical advisory committee that was dissolved by Trump, as reported by TIME magazine. She advocates for women’s health and the wellbeing of mothers and newborns, during and after pregnancy, that could be affected by the Trump administration.

In a recent blog post, Brackbill complained that the lives of children are at stake as a result of the highly politicized Project 25, writing, “We know that Christian Nationalism is their goal.

In another blog post, Brackbill compared her religious upbringing to being in a cult

Brackbill boasts that as a young child she convinced her entire elementary class to vote for George Bush. “I was seven. I remember being proud to be part of the Republican party as I learned more and more about their platform and beliefs from a very young age,” Lesa wrote on her blog.

Despite holding extreme opinions, Lesa Brackbill insists she is not a Democrat, claiming she became “non-partisan” five years ago. She is now a tour guide at Milton Hershey’s High Point Mansion and a manager at The Hershey Story. She continues to advocate for newborn screenings that could have saved her newborn daughter’s life in 2016, Lesa told Harrisburg100.

Four for Four in Derry Township

In a race with four open seats in the Derry Township School District, a slate of four candidates were cross-filed as Republicans and Democrats in Dauphin County including Lindsay Drew, Lesa Brackbill, Christine Strickler, and Nicole Searfoss. With no other candidates on the ballot, they each won the primary election with nearly 1800 votes cast by Democrats and 900 by Republicans. The slate of candidates each received similar vote counts and are considered to be a shoo-in for the general election.
