Re-elect Laura Brown to Silver Spring Township Board of Supervisors
Laura Brown is running for re-election to the Silver Spring Township Board of Supervisors in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. Laura is one of five Republican candidates competing in the May 20 primary election for two open positions.
I’ve worked with Laura on the township’s Agricultural Advisory Committee, Agricultural Security Area Advisory Committee and Land Preservation Review Board. Laura attends every meeting, comes prepared to discuss issues of current interest, hear concerns of board members, and propose solutions. Silver Spring Township is approaching 1,000 acres preserved which would be not be happening without Laura’s hard work and dedication.
Some of the other candidates say they will fight against warehouses and are for fiscal responsibility. The fact is, the current supervisors including Laura are working to oppose the proposed large warehouse project and resist rezoning that would allow more intensive development. The township has not raised taxes since Laura was first elected in 2019 and has budget surpluses. The opposing candidates think this is suspicious and demand an audit to find out why, when the township already does an independent audit each year. These same candidates are also endorsed by Greater Harrisburg Association of Realtors and a newly formed PAC that is run by out of state interests. This makes me wonder if they really do support keeping our current protections for open space and agriculture in place.
The May 20 primary election is critical for Silver Spring Township. Our township is growing fast and has some great businesses and services but we still have wonderful farmland and open space. Laura Brown will work to balance residential, business and farmland/open space, so that we don’t become entirely developed like other areas in eastern Cumberland County. Please vote for her on May 20.

Too many big money super PACs from wealthy elites both local and out of state trying to influence some local elections. It is disgusting and shameful. Laura is honest and can’t be bought.

Laura is part of the problem around here. Have you driven through my neighborhood at Walden area? who is working on roads around here? We need to get rid of all the supervisors but at least we can start with Laura Brown because she is up for re-election.

Really? we need some new people to give us some dollars and sense around here. This place is out of control. Laura is from the old school. I wish we could get rid of all the supervisors and start all over again.

Get rid of the old and bring on some new fresh blood! I’m longtime resident here in the township and have seen a lot of changes. As I have read through the information, it seems to me that Laura Brown’s time to retire is now. I agree that she has apparently done some good things but if we can get a whole new board that would be good.

Nice try clown. Your money can buy a corrupt politician but it can’t buy the votes of all of Silver Spring. Waste all your lobbyist money on your puppets. We won’t elect them.

The gross thing is the hot dog party guy that buys local politicians. He is angry that Laura Brown is not for sale.

Hey Barry — that independent audit is required by state law and is a joke. it’s formula stuff. I’m an accountant and know. The township could certainly benefit from a true forensic audit — could help find fraud and other stuff that may be overlooked.

The township has nothing on CV school district’s suspension of fraud. Start your forensic audit at CV. We have all heard about the quarter million dollar cheerleading booster that was off the books.

Unless there’s a serious concern about fraud or malfeasance, a forensic audit is a waste of time and money. If you want a review of performance and suggestions for better ways to do things, that’s not what a forensic audit does. (A simple google search will confirm this)
I was a partner at PwC having worked there a total of 38 years. So I have a good understanding of what a forensic audit does and does not do.
Again, unless there’s serious, documented concerns about fraud or malfeasance, this recommendation is wholly without merit. I have reviewed the financial statements of the Twp over the last 5 yrs, gone to some Supervisor meetings and understood the decisions made by the Twp. I have not seen any evidence of fraud or malfeasance.

A township resident (yes, you read that correctly ONE resident) made a request for a forensic audit based upon his personal opinion and unsubstantiated allegations. This request was made by Richard Rosen (Host of WGAL8 Brain Busters and one of the anonymous administrators of the Facebook group “Fair Zoning for Silver Spring Township) at the Board of Auditors meeting on January 7, 2025.

If you were a real accountant you wouldn’t have shown such ignorance by making this statement. Stop lying and gaslighting for political games. The citizens of this area are sick of the political games you people are playing. These political games with the township supervisor and the school board by well funded lobbyists are pissing us off. Just stop. Run your campaign on facts not games.
