Camp Hill , Pennsylvania — PA GOP elected state Sen. Greg Rothman as Chairman, and re-elected current PA GOP Vice Chair Bernie Comfort at the Penn Harris Convention Center in Camp Hill, with 372 state committee voting members present (115 of them were present by proxy).

In Rothman’s favor, 248 votes were counted, compared to his opponent, grassroots Trump-supporter, Bill Bachenberg who received: 120 votes. (There were two abstentions.)

In his remarks, Rothman thanked his supporters and said debate is welcome in our party, acknowledging the skepticism surrounding the race. “Let’s work together starting right now,” he said – a reference to his “Unity” theme, on which he and Comfort ran.
Bachenberg issued the following statement:“During our short 38-day campaign, Lynne (Ryan) and I have heard from the grassroots and volunteers who are the heart and soul of our state.

“The swamp may have won today, but the MPGA and MAGA movement can’t be stopped. The PAGOP establishment has awoke a pride of sleeping tigers, stay tuned.”

Ryan is the vice chair candidate who ran alongside Bachenberg. After Rothman was elected, she withdrew her candidacy, out of respect for meeting time and so committee members could beat the impending snow storm.

Completing Rothman’s team of appointed officers are: Sam DeMarco (Allegheny County) as PA GOP Treasurer; Ann Coleman (Mercer County) for PA GOP Secretary; and Becky Corbin (Chester County) will serve as PA GOP Asst. Secretary.

Two statewide endorsements were also made at the meeting: Matthew Wolford received the party endorseemnt for Commonwealth County Judge; and Ann Marie Wheatcraft of Chester County won the endorsement for Superior Court Judge, by a 1-vote margin in the 3-candidate race. Wheatcraft’s challengers were Maria Battista and Paula Patrick.

During the Superior Justice vote, Wheatcraft needed 183 votes for a majority of the 364 votes cast; she won 184 votes. (Some members had left a meeting by the time this vote was taken.)

[…] Her crime? According to WCRC Chairman Bill Bretz, allegations arose surrounding her supportof unendorsed candidates: Commonwealth Court Candidate Joshua Prince and Superior Court Candidate Maria Battista, by circulating their nomination petitions and promoting their campaigns on her social media. (Prince has publicly criticized  the integrity of the PA GOP’s endorsement process; and Battista narrowly missed earning the endorsement at that PA GOP Winter meeting.) […]
