Harrisburg, Pennsylvania — Incumbent Dauphin County Prothonotary Matthew Krupp announced he is seeking reelection to a third term in a news release this week.
Since his election to the office in 2017, Matthew Krupp, 43, has facilitated the naturalization of hundreds of new citizens in Dauphin County, installed a modern case management system and successfully implemented electronic filing, bringing the office’s operations in line with current standards across Pennsylvania. In 2020, Krupp received the 2020 Governor’s Award for Local Government Excellence for improving government efficiency and increasing access to services to an underserved community.
Prior to being elected Prothonotary, Krupp served on the Harrisburg City School Board, where he introduced and helped pass the first property tax cut in Harrisburg in years and spearheaded the School Board’s adoption of the LERTA.
Krupp, a licensed attorney and graduate of both Shippensburg University and the Widener University School of Law, is a resident of downtown Harrisburg, where he formerly served as President of the Capital Area Neighbors Association and developed the Elementary Coffee building on North Street, a project which received the Historic Harrisburg Association’s (“HHA”) Preservation Award.
Krupp’s experience also includes serving as board member of the Dauphin County Bar Association, co-hosting and producing the American Literacy Corporation’s “Zoom Zoo” children’s show during the pandemic, and raising more than $80,000 through his organization, “Lighten Up Harrisburg,” which notably funded the replacement of the Broad Street Market sign, as well as the LED lights on the Walnut Street Bridge.
Krupp credits his two terms as Prothonotary, as well as his decades of experience as an attorney and community leader decades of experience as making him uniquely qualified for this position.
The Prothonotary is elected to a four-year term to record and file all legal papers related to the civil court. The documents may include arbitration hearings, court and civil trial arguments, building agreements, name changes, divorce certificates, and landlord/tenant disputes.

Since I will be voting in November for a Prothonotary, I would like to know how important Mr. Krupp’s faith in God is to him and what role that plays in his every day life. I will be folllwing him on Facebook, I would like to have this question answered perhaps on there. In God’s word it says wisdom begins with the fear of God and people serving in government really need that wisdom today.
