Cumberland County, Pennsylvania — Officials in Cumberland County have responded to a Right-to-Know (RTK) request filed for information about Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainees being housed in the prison since 2016. At this time, nine (9) individuals are currently under an ICE detainer at the Cumberland County Prison – three of them for egregious crimes ranging from felony robbery counts to strangulation to felony child endangerment charges.
Since 2016, Cumberland County has received almost 100 detainment orders from ICE: eight (8) in 2016; four (4) in 2017; ten (10) in 2018; eight (8) in 2019; six (6) in 2020; thirteen (13) in 2022; and a noticeable jump with twenty-five (25) in 2023; and twenty-one (21) so far this year.
Dozens of migrants have been released from Cumberland County Prison according to the information provided.
Dauphin County responded to a similar RTK request, however they could not provide any data.
