Lancaster, Pennsylvania – U.S. Congressman Lloyd Smucker publicly responded to the editors at LNP | Lancaster Online by name after being portrayed as anti-Semetic by the newspaper this week.

Congressman Smucker stated, “Cassidy and Otto attempt to smear me by suggesting that I am antisemitic, stooping to new lows of the vile accusations that they will sling at me.”

Congressman Smucker also noted that LNP is an organization that is taxpayer funded through WITF, its parent company.

According to an editorial published by Suzanne Cassidy and Chris Otto at LNP, Congressman Smucker failed to condemn, “language used by President Trump that echoed Adolf Hitler’s manifesto Mein Kampf, which laid the groundwork for the Holocaust.”

This conclusion was asserted in the LNP editorial titled, “Using some of US Rep. Lloyd’s Smucker’s own words, let’s play ‘Spot the Hypocrisy’.”

Smucker was also accused of signing a letter calling for the resignation of the now former UPenn President, and he was accused of supporting the impeachment of President Biden. However, he did not support efforts to remove Trump during previous impeachment attempts, according to LNP.

The activist editors at LNP went on to detail their partisan loyalty to the Biden administration, while simultaneously condemning Smucker’s support of Trump.

Smucker responded to LNP in a social media press release by exposing their partisan bias. Smucker concluded his response by mentioning that LNP is actually a state funded media organization that is posing as an independent newspaper. “It is also worth noting, although you likely won’t find them sharing this disclosure, LNP | LancasterOnline’s parent company, WITF is taxpayer funded,” Smucker wrote.
