Letter to the Editor: Parental rights are being overruled by institutional forces

The flaw with the “Parental Rights” movement is its name. Pop culture does not value individual rights, the idea that anyone other than government knows best for a child is triggering.

Can we call family units choosing not to expose their minor to controversial material something else? I suggest American Common Sense, Rights People Died For, Natural Liberty Protected, or maybe, Hell No & You Best Stay Away.

At a recent Cumberland Valley School District school board meeting a woman stood at the microphone and said things such as, “trust the experts” “parents don’t know”. She appeased the board’s current actions, profusely thanked them, and announced “CRT was appropriate.” Parents rights were a religious confine, books had been filtered through the judgement of “professionals”.

I wondered had this lady seen the Federal FOIA documentation showing $13,000,000,000.00* had been paid to “influencers” for positive coverage of COVID/lockdown mandates? Or that the Federal American Rescue Plan millions received by CVSD was used to implement the frantic push for new curriculum? Likely she had not, neither had those fervently clapping after her public comment concluded. Superficially informed or truly a communist is always a thin line.

To address the librarian professionals specifically, they are currently lead by a self-described Marxist. President of the American Library Association (ALA) Emily Drabinski, has repeatedly announced her communistic identity. Recently she made remarks at “Socialism 2023,” a US conference event.

I just want to say thank you for bringing up libraries, and classroom libraries, but also school libraries of all kind, public libraries and higher education library who have been under attack in similar ways

I think your point that public education needs to be a site of socialist organizing, I think libraries really do too…

Prior to Drabinski’s comments the crowd listened to a presentation “how to smuggle socialist ideas like critical race theory into the classroom even when the law outlaws it”.

In this current culture, a group of dads in Dearborn Michigan warranted national news coverage when they asked their school board to stop exposing their children to sexual content. What has happened to us!? Where are all the other dads? How were school districts across this country allowed to purchase and implement this material without every town showing up to stop it? Why are adults excusing sexualized pro-transgender material for children at school? CVSD is a Republican 8-1 board, two military veterans, and leadership within Cumberland County Republican Committee, sit on that school board.

The mockingbird media and their influencers twisted the flawed titled term of “parental rights” and all the communist sympathizers echo disparaging, nonsensical protests, parroting ‘trust the experts.’

Ronald Reagan was talking to our generation we are the ones he warned of. Allowing our elected officials’ funding sources to go unchecked, staying quiet while our neighbors disgrace the fallen, allowing our children to be raised by a device, this is our duty to fix.
