Sean Guay | Author

Sean Guay is an engineering professional and independent author who founded Harrisburg100 in 2014, three years after graduating from the Civil Engineering Department at Penn State University. Sean met the love of his life in college and married his wife upon completing their undergraduate studies. After exploring around the world together, the couple returned to make their home in the City of Harrisburg, living along the Susquehanna River within blocks of the Pennsylvania State Capitol for seven years.

Sean was inspired by the activity of the state government, as well as the industrial infrastructure of Harrisburg being positioned in the center of the Keystone State at the junction of a transportation hub in the northeastern United States. With a keen interest in the historical significance, local industry, and natural resources in Pennsylvania, Sean acquired certification from the United States Environmental Protection Agency in 2021.

Being the paternal grandson of a Navy Cross awarded Vietnam War helicopter pilot and Marine drill sergeant from Parris Island, and the maternal grandson of a fine artist featured in the Smithsonian, Sean has been significantly influenced by the accomplishments of his grandfathers.

Sean has been published internationally by The Epoch Times. His news network Harrisburg100 has garnered citations from The Philadelphia Inquirer for exclusive news coverage in Lancaster County. The Republican Executive Committee Woman of Miami, Florida credited Sean and his team at Harrisburg100 for backtracking information from Atlanta, Georgia that proved to be a critical piece of legal evidence. He gained further name recognition as an outspoken critic in Pennsylvania. Recently he has reported on the role of AI in government, and infrastructure development in Pennsylvania.

Sean has been a true champion for freedom of the press, most notably when he successfully challenged John Fetterman for restricting his freedom of speech. He also prevailed as journalist when a retraction was demanded by the manager of Derry Township after he authored a conservative opinion in The Patriot News, but stood his ground and scored another First Amendment victory.

In 2024, Sean was appointed to the Derry Township Planning Commission. He was unanimously voted to be Secretary during the first year of his term and has signed the approval of several high profile development projects as a public official including the Hershey Inn & Suites.

Sean grew up in the Green Acres neighborhood of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, one block beyond the borough line of Penbrook. Sean enjoyed his youth exploring the neighborhood bound by the Lincoln Cemetery to the west, and the property of historic state Rep. Lawrence Hetrick (George Hetrick Funeral Home) to the north.

Sean earned his first dollars raking leaves and shoveling snow in Green Acres. By age 10 he was carrying newspapers for the eldest brother of his next door neighbors, and he eventually maintained two of his own paper routes. He survived the blizzards of 1993 and 1996 delivering newspapers. Sean delivered The Patriot News on the east shore, and on the west shore after his family moved across the Susquehanna River where he did attend middle and high school in the Cumberland Valley School District.

He now resides in Hershey, Pennsylvania. For leisure Sean enjoys spending time with his family, cruising in the tropics, and observing nature in Pennsylvania.
