As we approach the November 4 general election, I ask people to try to understand the importance of local elections. The people in these elected positions have more impact on our lives than most can imagine. These decision makers impact areas such as roads, development, water and sewer, police, parks and recreation, and many other important areas that affect us.
In Silver Spring Township, we have two outstanding and well qualified candidates running for township supervisor. Laura Brown, who has served one term, is seeking re-election. She has served us admirably and has led the drive for land preservation in our township. Mark Potteiger, a lifelong resident and retired successful businessman is also running. Mark was a strong opponent to a mega-warehouse that would have negatively impacted our community. I personally know these two individuals, and you could not find better people to represent the good people of Silver Spring Township. Laura and Mark are by far the best candidates running for supervisor. Most township issues are not political issues even though some try to make it seem that way. Laura and Mark do not play political games. They have no ties to special interest groups or developers. Laura and Mark have also self-funded their campaigns, unlike others who ran in the primary election who were funded primarily from outside special interests.
Laura and Mark are dedicated to opposing any further rezoning of Agricultural and Rural lands and both support the township’s land preservation program. I ask voters of all parties, republican, democrat, independent, other parties to strongly consider voting for Laura and Mark on November 4. Please get out and cast your vote for the best people for our township. Laura and Mark are those people, in my opinion, and I fully support them.
