Mentoring, coaching, and giving our time can transform lives, including our own. Through my work as a mentor with the SCORE Lancaster-Lebanon chapter, I’ve seen firsthand how volunteering empowers others to grow, deepens our purpose, strengthens communities, and leaves a lasting impact.

SCORE, a national nonprofit and resource partner of the U.S. Small Business Administration, offers free mentoring to entrepreneurs. Our Lancaster-Lebanon chapter is powered by professionals who lend their expertise to help small businesses and nonprofits thrive.

When I moved to Lancaster County, I struggled to find the right balance of professional engagement after leaving a Washington, D.C. firm. Joining SCORE was the perfect fit. It allowed me to help individuals launch and grow their ventures while connecting with a network of like-minded mentors.

SCORE mentoring is uniquely fulfilling for those with backgrounds in business, finance, marketing, human resources, operations, or leadership. We use the tools we’ve sharpened over decades to guide passionate entrepreneurs through challenges and celebrate their successes.

The rewards flow both ways. Every client brings fresh ideas and challenges, keeping me sharp and curious. I’ve explored new industries and stayed up to date with digital tools and market trends. Most importantly, mentoring has kept me connected to a vibrant professional community.

Whether you’re retired, actively working, or somewhere in between, there’s a place for you at SCORE. You don’t need all the answers, just a passion for helping others and a few hours to give.
