Harrisburg, Pennsylvania — March 29 will formally be recognized as Vietnam Era Veterans Day in Pennsylvania thanks to a bill introduced by Senator Douglas Mastriano.
Vietnam Era Veterans Day honors the service and sacrifice of Vietnam veterans and their families. The day was chosen because it was the last day of the United States Military Assistance Command in Vietnam in 1973, and the day the last US combat troops left South Vietnam.
Senator Mastriano said he had just received good news that the bill had been moved forward by the House as he was departing from the Pennsylvania Capitol this evening. Mastriano explained that the day holds a special meaning to many people who sacrificed for the country, and Mastriano expressed pride for his father who was a Vietnam veteran.
This is a developing story.
