Harrisburg, Pennsylvania – A meme war has erupted on social media among high profile figures in Pennsylvania. Gubernatorial candidate Josh Shapiro today posted an offensive meme that attacked the physical appearance of his opponent.

Doug Mastriano, however, took the high road and continued to maintain a positive campaign focused on the issues most important to Pennsylvanians including crime, education, economy, and energy.

Shapiro has been struggling to connect with voters, and his campaign has emphasized abortion and climate change at a time of surging crime and economic decline. Commenters on social media referred to Shapiro’s attempt to defame the image of Mastriano as “childish.”

Democrats agree that Shapiro’s feeble attempt to meme are doing more harm than good to his campaign.

Meanwhile on Twitter, U.S. Senate candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz mocked Shapiro’s underhanded meme by tweeting a similar image, but using the illustration to describe his opponent John Fetterman who has disappeared from public life after having a stroke just days before the primary election in May.
